All movies available in SD now!

Jan6

The last month we’ve been working on a number of new features which users have been requesting. Some of them are still under work, and while some features are ready, they will still undergo some further testing before available live. However, we are happy to announce that all +1,000 movies (Yes, we hit that milestone just less than a week ago!) are now also available in SD, for the people who may not have fast enough internet connections to stream the HD movies without buffering, or lack the hardware requirements to be able to do so. This does in no way mean that we’d lower the quality of our current streams, we just wish to give an alternative to the users who may have trouble with streaming currently. To enable/disable the HD/SD content, click the button below the video content (bottom right). Please note that new movies may not have a SD stream version available for a few hours after its release, in which case the option won’t be available to choose.

We’ve also been working on the Movies page to make the browsing easier by providing alternative sorting options as well as improved pagination, and we’d love to hear your comments on it as well as any suggestions you may still have.

We made some changes to the commenting system for movies, but for users this should merely seem like a visual change. We will soon be fixing our forums to be more user-friendly with a similar format. If you encounter any issues with the new features, please report them to us.

Finally, we are working on an embeddable solution for websites to use. Along with it, we will provide a data API which can be accessed for data regarding movies, and we would like to hear your ideas and requests of features which you’d want available in the data API.

Submission deadline for TF2 movie contest this Saturday.

Oct28

I would like to remind everyone that you have to submit your movie for the Team Fortress 2 movie competition by the 31st of October 2009 at 23:59 (GMT). We’ve received many awesome contest entries already. You can find the entries here.

Small updates, bug fixes and movie contest information

Oct9

Firstly, we’d like to apologize for the minor bug related to the demo submissions for the contest. Even though we stated that demo submission was over, users were still capable of uploading demos to the contest. This bug should be fixed now however, but we’d like to make sure all editors are on the same page regarding the use of demos submitted past the deadline.

You are allowed to use the demos submitted past the deadline, as this was an error on our part.

Users might have been experiencing slow speeds the past week, as we were transferring and integrating a 4th content server to our network. With this addition, the streaming and download speeds should be fast for some time now. With the additional hardware at our disposal, we are planning on introducing low quality alternatives for streaming.
